Crowley Family History Photographs

Alton: Mrs Abraham Crowley (nee Charlotte Curtis) of Normandy House "Alton: Mrs Abraham Crowley (nee Charlotte Curtis) of Normandy House, with three children (two boys on a horse and a girl holding her hand), not dated [probably before 1865]."

This image is from Hampshire County Museums Service and has recently been scanned as part of the [Hampshire Photographic Project][http://www.hants.gov.uk/record-office/photo] (reference number TD732-x001, reproduced here with permission) and was kindly passed onto me by Bruce Howard, the project manager. His comment on it was "earliest Daguerreotype photographs were not produced until 1839 and this photograph is definitely not a Daguerreotype (although it was originally labelled as such). It may be an Ambrotype which would put it at after 1852 and more popularly in the mid 1850s." Having tried to link to the known dates of the children, its probably the youngest three, Phillip (born 1837), Marianne (born 1839) and Alice (born 1845).

The Hampshire Record office has several other documents related to the family at that time and can be searched here
